Deep South Festival returns to the iconic Governor Hindmarsh Hotel this November with a new format. Audiences will be immersed in a weekend of performances in The Venue, with music, food and set design curated to create a distinctly different feel for each day of the event.
Headed by local superstar songstress Zkye, whose mix of soul, power and wit never fails to deliver a great performance. The festival hosts Chris E Thomas as she returns to Adelaide after a two-year absence, and both The Associates and Nikko & Snooks will show us the stuff that’s made them SA finalists in this year’s Memphis International Blues Challenge. Once again, Deep South Festival delivers a stellar line up of local and interstate performers.
Friday 25 November hosts the return of the sell-out hit “Women Sing the Blues”, as the superb trio of Gail Page Band, Chris E Thomas (NZ) and Kelly Menhennett weave their musical magic.
On the evening of Saturday 26 November it’s an “R&B Extravaganza” exploring big, bold and brash sounds featuring Hat Fitz Cara (Qld), Lloyd Spiegel (Vic), Zkye, The Streamliners, Steve Brown Band and The Associates plus other special guests.
And on Sunday 27 November we get “Up Close and Personal” with an afternoon of double-acts in an intimate setting. Come along to see Phil Manning (Vic) & Chris Finnen, Abbie & Jeb Cardwell (Vic), Nikko & Snooks and Sweet Baby James & Rob
Eyers to blow you away in the gentlest way they can.
This year the festival focus will extend more than ever with food specially curated to complement each day of the event. On Friday night, a 2-course meal (main and dessert), on Saturday night it’s time for Southern-style platters - expect a medley of finger-lickin’ specialties cooked to perfection, and to finish, a Cajun-style grill suits the more relaxed atmosphere of the festival’s Sunday afternoon session.
